The Andrew Mitchell Library
(incorporating the Deanery Library)
The Library is housed in two adjoining rooms, the Andrew Mitchell and Sark rooms. The latter has works of reference, the Youth Section (see below) and a video and audio collection. The following periodicals: “Theology”, “Spirituality”, “The Tablet” are available, also a selection of mainstream church newspapers (see lounges for latter). The library provides a very pleasant place to read or study. The catalogue is available on the library website at www.lescotilslibrary.org and the printed catalogue is kept in the Andrew Mitchell Library. There is a computer for public use in the annexe to the Sark Room. Please note that the PC Stufy Bible is installed on this computer.
The Youth and Drama Section
The Guernsey Deanery Sunday School Resources of books and videos have been amalgamated with this section, kept in the Sark room. Many new titles have been added but we are always glad of recommendations.
Borrowing a book
Before visiting the library you may wish to check whether a book is held by the library and available for loan. You can do this online. Books may be reserved by phone or email but must be collected and signed out in person with details recorded in the borrowing file kept in the Andrew Mitchell room. Returned books should be placed in the box provided and date of return recorded in the borrowing file.
Most books may be borrowed for up to two months and we would be grateful if you would respect this, as our signing-out and retuning system relies on trust.
For fire safety reasons always check in and out at reception when using the library.
Opening times
for the Library are from 5:30-10pm every evening except Mondays. The Library is often open at other times, particularly in the afternoons, but we recommend you check with Reception before making a possibly wasted journey.
Location
Enter through the old house, checking in at Reception and take stairs or lift to the Library situated on the ground floor.
Further information about the Library is available on our website: www.lescotilslibrary.org
