Thursday 15th August is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven. It is a Holy Day of Obligation when we should participate in Mass. The Assumption celebrates the great dogma of faith that the Blessed Mother was taken up into heaven body and soul at the end of her life on earth.
