The Season of Creation’s origin – In 1989 Ecumenical Patriarch Dimitros proclaimed September 1st as the Orthodox Day of Prayer for Creation. Subsequently ‘The World Council of Churches’ extended the celebration until October 4th, the feast day of St Francis of Assisi. Since then ‘The season of Creation’ has been held annually when we celebrate our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion and commitment together. During the ‘Season of Creation’ we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home. This year the chosen theme is “Let Justice and Peace Flow” calls us to creation care and justice for famers worldwide.
