“We are all trying to cut down our use of plastics and one excellent way of doing this is by not buying plastic bottled water. The quality of tap water in Guernsey is very good – It is easy enough to make a habit of refilling a bottle at home to take out with us instead of buying more plastic. There are two aspects of bottled water that we could consider; one is the many millions of oil that are needed to manufacture the plastic bottles and another is the depletion of water sources in other countries to fill them. Not buying it makes a good contribution to scarce world resources and certainly ticks the box for being good environmentalists.”
