Apologies for Absence: Canon Michael, Pat Devenport, Paula Brierley, Paul Robilliard
Chairman: Paul Burnard
The Chairman welcomed David Merrien to his first meeting of the PEC, and expressed delight at having some younger blood on the Council. Father Paul echoed these comments and advised that he had invited William Woodall, another young(er) parishioner, to also join the Council.
The minutes of the meeting held on 12 March 2019 were approved.
Owen Lee then joined the meeting.
Sister de Lourdes informed the meeting that Larry Malcic, Claudine Paluch & Nick Paluch had agreed to join the rota for presenting Guidelines on Radio Guernsey.
Deacon Mark advised that the Parish Tea Party planned for 9 June had been cancelled due to the Parish having a very busy diary that month (First Communion; Confirmation; Open Air Farewell Mass for Canon Michael etc).
It was noted that Larry Malcic is making a presentation case for Pope John Paul II’s Zuchetta, which will be presented to, and dedicated at, Notre Dame by the new Parish Dean.
Deacon Mark advised that plans were progressing well for the Open Air Mass on 30 June; Music & sound systems had been organised and Owen Lee was organising the catering. Owen agreed to contact Ryan Dekker and Joe Mooney in regard to the provision of a stage, tables and chairs. He would also ask the Catenians to assist with setting up the venue. Deacon Mark would enquire of Blanchelande and the Parish Office in regard to public liability insurance for the event.
The Northern Churches Party on the Park, which had been placed on the agenda by Pat Devenport, was carried forward to the next meeting.
Paul Burnard reported comments from parishioners about the omission of the Washing of the Feet from the service on Holy Thursday. Father Paul responded that feedback on the omission had been mixed, some in favour and some against.
The next meeting was scheduled for 18:00 on 4 June 2019, with prayers to be led by Sister de Lourdes.
There being no further business the Chairman thanked those who had attended the meeting, and declared it closed at 18:30.
