I know that the bush telegraph has been at work so that many of you have already heard that I will be returning to Hampshire at the end of the month.
It has not been an easy decision to make but I have found travel to and from the island more difficult and tiring over the past year. The Priest Retirment Fund is providing me with a flat in Fordingbridge, a place I have come to know and like in recent years; that is where I hope to live for whatever time the Lord allows me.
Le Platon is a very special place; I have been very happy there and offer my thanks and good wishes to all who work, live and support it. Please God I will be able to see it in all its beauty when the current development is completed.
I thank you for all the kindness and encouragement you have given, making my time with you a happy time – indeed I have lived in Guernsey longer than anywhere else. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
In the words of St. Francis …
MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU, MAY HE SHOW HIS FACE TO YOU AND HAVE MERCY ON YOU, MAY HE TURN HIS COUNTENANCE TOWARDS YOU AND GIVE YOU PEACE, MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU.
A Mass in thanksgiving for all the blessings that Guernsey has received through the Canon will be offered on Tuesday 23rd April at 7:00pm in St Joseph’s to which all are invited and to the tea and cake afterwards.
