The Parish Evangelisation Council would like to compile a list of parishioners who would be willing to assist fellow parishioners in Alderney and Sark who require medical treatment in Guernsey.
This could be taking someone from the airport to the hospital, visiting a patient in hospital, doing the laundry for a patient or possibly offering accommodation eg for an overnight / 2 night stay for a person wishing to visit a family member undergoing treatment.
The stress caused by coming to hospital in Guernsey can be exacerbated by not having any contacts on the island. This can arise in particular with elderly people and women giving birth away from home. When a woman has to remain in Guernsey slightly longer than normal if the baby is underweight or unwell, she may feel very isolated, particularly if she has other children at home.
The need to assist in any of the above situations would be very infrequent and nobody would be committed to having to say “yes” if they were approached for assistance.
If you feel you could assist in any way, please contact Pat Devenport on 249510 with details of how you may be able to help.
