Day of Prayer for Migrant Refugee Crisis – Sunday 27th September
Bishop Philip has invited parishes in the diocese to hold a Day of Prayer for the refugee migrant crisis. What can you do to respond? There are several suggestions in Bishop Philip’s Message which you can find on www.portsmouthdiocese.org.uk under Latest News or pick up a copy in the porch on pink coloured paper.
Perhaps make a visit to the Blessed Sacrament today, pray a Rosary, reflect on the Second Sorrow of Mary, the Flight into Egypt, Matthew 2:13-23; or attend Benediction (see note below). You can also pray the following prayer:
O Lord, to whom no one is a stranger
and from whose help no one is ever distant,
look with compassion on refugees and exiles,
on segregated persons and on lost children;
restore them, we pray, to a homeland,
and give us a kind heart for the needy and for strangers.
Through Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
