GPC Meeting Minutes – 7th July 2015

Minutes of the meeting held on 7th July 2015 at 6.00pm
Present: Canon Michael, Paula Brierley, Helen Foxen, Deacon Mark, Father Paul, Owen lee, Ryan Dekker and Paul Burnard
1. The meeting opened with a prayer led by Ryan Dekker.
2. Apologies for absence – none
3. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
4. Matters Arising / Action plans :
– The Mass and parish celebration of John Paul Lyttle’s ordination had been well attended and enjoyed.
5. Correspondence and Communications
– There was only one item of correspondence. This was an email from Paula Brierley with an attachment from Liz Dene re the Union Civile consultation which has been organised in the island. Canon requested that all GPC members read this before the meeting in July. The matter was discussed and it was hoped to organise a meeting which Liz would attend, for those who wished to find out more about this proposal.
6. Youth News
– Young Cygnet has about six people attending regularly.
– Eimeer Bisson has stepped back from her role as one of the leaders of All Saints Youth Club.
– Plans are being made for Youth Sunday.
– Paul will work with Tom Saddington on funding request to diocese. He has received a template of the format of this.
– Council discussed the different styles of Masses and which would be most suitable for young people.
7. AOB
– Canon Michael distributed a photocopy of a working plan of a parish and he asked members to study this for discussion in September.
– Deacon Mark showed a notice which he has designed which gives information about masses in all our parishes and welcomes visitors. This is
for display in public places such as the Harbour, Airport, and Hotels etc. It would be in French and English. After discussion it was also felt that
German should be added and Perry’s Guide references.
– Canon thanked Helen Foxen for her work as secretary over the past few years.
8. The date of the next meeting will be Tuesday 8th September at 6pm and the prayer will be led by Owen Lee.
9. There being no other business, the meeting closed at 7.15 pm with a prayer led by Ryan.
