Catholic Youth Event – fundraising

In March this year 10,000 young Catholics from across the UK will be going to ‘Flame’, a Catholic youth event at Wembley Arena. This event is a follow-up to the Pope’s visit. There will be several speakers, including Archbishop Vincent Nichols, and other activities. Ten of our young people from ‘Cygnet’ will be going to this, and to help subsidise the cost of getting there we invite you, if you wish, to fill a jam-jar with your loose change. Jam- jars are available in the porches of all the churches. Thank You.

Christian Aid Week: 15-21 May

A co-ordinator is required by St Joseph’s church to arrange the collection of Christian Aid donations in areas of St Peter Port. This involves arranging collection areas for up to twelve collectors and passing all the envelopes on to the Area Manager.

The continued support of the present collectors is earnestly sought and additional collectors are always welcome.

St Padre Pio Prayer Group

We have come to the end of our public appeal for funds to support Sister Muriel’s charity, St Joseph the Worker and ACN, Aid to the Church in Need. We would personally like to thank each one who has donated to these two worthy causes. We will inform you all later the amount we raised via this Link. Our appeal for funds is annually and should you feel so inclined to assist our campaign you may do so at any time via The Sisters at the Convent or direct to us during 2011.

A very sincere thank you from us and I’m sure one will be coming via Sister Muriel and ACN.

Christmas Crib Collection

The total collection taken at the cribs this Christmas was £661 which will be sent to the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre for Christian Schools in the Holy Land.

The St Padre Pio Prayer Group

The St Padre Pio Prayer Group continue to ask for donations throughout January to assist Sister Muriel St Joseph the Workers charity plus Aid to the Church in Need charity.

Anyone willing to donate monies may do so either to Bill or Jenny Trubuil or to any of the Sisters of Cordier Hill Convent.

It was for our dear friend Sister Maria Goretti that our prayer group undertook this task and we feel obliged to continue doing so in her memory.

Island Churches Festival Chorus

Horse Racing Evening

Le Platon Home Garden Fete

American Independence Day so there will be burgers and hot dogs for sale!

Come and have lunch on the lawn! Cakes, books, unwanted gifts stall, bottle stall, plants, raffle and teas.

N.B. Unwanted gifts/bottles or even a prize for the raffle will be gratefully received at either the Parish Office or Le Platon Home. Anyone who would like to donate a cake/cakes please hand them in to Le Platon Home on the day.
