Fund raising for charity

During the weeks of Lent Eleanor Spencer and Izzy Sanders will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation and Save the Children.

Join them in the Hall after 10.30am Mass for raffles, ‘guess how many sweets are in the jar’ and more!

St Patrick’s Day Thanks

Thank you to all those who made our celebrations so enjoyable – the musicians, singers, dancers, those helping with food and drinks and those who prepared the hall and cleared up afterwards. Special thanks to our school caretaker, Len Bullock.

Due to the generosity of those who gave raffle prizes and those who bought tickets we can send £310 to CAFOD’s Haiti Appeal.

Thanks to Jeanette Guille and her team and everyone who supported the Annual Coffee Morning held at Delancey last weekend. A total of £750 has been sent to the Diocesan Priest’s Retirement Fund.

Also, £350 was made at the cake sale in St Joseph’s Hall for the Madeiran Disaster Fund. Thank you to everyone who made cakes and supported.

Cake Sale for the Madeiran Community

In the hall following 10:30 Mass at St. Joseph’s TODAY to raise funds for the Madeiran Community who were affected by the floods.

Mike Tanguy also took a collection last Sunday which raised £151.01. This amount has been paid into the Lloyds TSB Madeira Appeal account.

CAFOD Lent Fast Day: 26th February 2010

This year is the 50th anniversary of Lent Fast Day and CAFOD are asking you to ‘give it up’!

Most of us usually give up something for Lent like biscuits, wine, a big dinner on a Friday. This year why not create some amazing changes for people who live in the developing world by giving the money saved to CAFOD?

The money you save by missing out on your favourite biscuits each day, for example, could go towards a bicycle to help a health volunteer take food to orphaned children.

Attached to this weeks Link is an envelope which you can use for your Fast Day offerings or at any time during Lent. Please return the envelopes either at the retiring collection next week or at any time during Lent.

In the church porches you will also find a supply of take home money boxes for your spare change. These can be returned on Holy Thursday.

Cabrini Children’s Society

On Sunday 14th February the annual collection for the Cabrini Children’s Society will take place.

The Society provides support and care for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our community. Their work includes providing Breakfast & Homework Clubs and Pre-school Care; Counselling for school age children experiencing stress and exclusion; Residential Care for young people with special needs and Catechetical Programmes for children and young people with disabilities.

The Society relies on the good will of the Catholic community to continue its work in our diocese.

Please give what you can to help give the next generation the chance they deserve.

Friends of Romania

Friends of Romania are seeking to help young families in need this Easter and need to find two cots or cot/beds and two single pushchairs.
