Ascent

[The Ascent logo]Ascent is a movement of the Catholic Church designed to help Christians in their middle and later years encourage the growth of their Faith.  It was founded in France in the 1960s and officially recognised by the Holy See in 1996.  Since then it has spread to many countries of the world.  The core values of ‘Ascent’ are Spirituality, Friendship and Mission.  We decided to on using Lectio Divina  – praying with Scripture as our Spirituality focus but have also used different ideas suggested by the National office, particularly in conjunction with various seasons of the Churches year.  We have been meeting once a month at 3pm in the afternoon – the aim being to provide something for those people who would rather have a day-time meeting. The group, meets at the Centre for Peace currently on the 3rd Monday of the month.  Transport can be provided.
