Lenten Penitential Service

St. Joseph’s – Thursday 2nd April 7:00pm.

Passion Sunday (Palm Sunday), April 5th

This day combines the commemoration of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and the proclamation of the Passion.

Masses with blessing of palms the same as the normal Saturday/Sunday schedule.

The Triduum

Holy Thursday, April 9th

The season of Lent ends on Holy Thursday and the Easter Triduum begins with the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. The Mass is a memorial of the institution of the Eucharist and of the Priesthood. The ceremony of washing of the feet is a reminder of the example of service set by Jesus at his last meal with his disciples.

St. Joseph’s 7:00pm – Mass of the Lord’s Supper, followed by Adoration until 11:00pm concluding with night prayer.

Good Friday, April 10th

This is a day of fast and abstinence for the whole Church. The main ceremony of the day is the Solemn Celebration of the Lord’s Passion with the Veneration of the Cross and the Reception of Holy Communion.

Way of the Cross:

Our Lady Star of the Sea, 10:00am; St. Joseph’s, 7:00pm.

The Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion:

St. Joseph’s, 3:00pm; Our Lady Star of the Sea, 3:00pm.

Holy Saturday, April 11th

This day is a time of waiting at the tomb, fasting and meditating. The Easter Vigil begins no earlier than sundown. The ceremony includes both a vigil of waiting for the Resurrection of the Lord and the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation.

The Easter Vigil and first Mass of Easter:

St. Joseph’s, 8:00pm.

Easter Day, April 12th

This is the day on which we celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord, it is the Sunday of all Sundays! We are invited to renew our Baptismal Promises.

This is the beginning of fifty days of celebration that conclude on Pentecost Sunday.

St. Joseph’s: 8:00am, 10:30am. No evening Mass.

Notre Dame du Rosaire: 9:00am.

Our Lady Star of the Sea: 9:30am.

Confession & Absolution

Saturday 4th April 10:30am St. Joseph’s following Mass at 10:00am
4:30pm Notre Dame do Rosaire: followed by Way of the Cross at 5pm and Mass at 5:30pm
Monday 6th April 6:30pm Our Lady Star of the Sea: followed by Mass at 7:00pm and Way of the Cross
Holy Thursday 9th April 9:30am St. Joseph’s: Morning Prayer followed by confessions until 11:00am
